IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator Operator Tools & Reference Helpers
Offline planners and checklists that complement the in-game ballistic calculator —not replacements for it.
This hub collects wiki-side reference tools for IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator. Nothing here runs inside the game client. These pages help you rehearse the firing loop, compare shell roles, and sanity-check elevation and charge ideas before you sit down at the teleprinter and tactical map table.
If you are brand new to the turret, start with Getting Started and the Physical Gun Controls page so you know which levers, wheels, and stations the tools refer to. When you are ready to connect numbers to the in-game machine, read the Ballistic Calculator guide —that is the authoritative walkthrough for the mechanical calculator aboard your platform.
What belongs in Tools
IRON NEST rewards operators who treat every shot as a small engineering problem. The full loop —intel, map plotting, calculator work, shell choice, powder charges, bearing, elevation, and trigger pull —is documented across Guides, Controls, Ammunition, and Systems. Tools sit beside those guides as optional helpers you can keep open on a second monitor while you play the free demo or practice between sessions.
We add a tool here when it solves a repeatable planning task that players look up often: translating map measurements into rough firing data, comparing charge bands, or walking through a checklist before High Command’s next deadline. We do not duplicate the in-game UI or claim to read live mission state.
Featured tool: Firing Solution Planner
The Firing Solution Planner is the first tool in this section. It walks through the same sequence you use in a mission —target distance and height difference, shell family, desired trajectory shape, then suggested elevation and powder charge bands —and renders an interactive reference panel mid-page.
Use it to study the loop, not to auto-win missions. The demo and full game still require you to crank the real calculator, load the correct shell, and obey mission restrictions. The planner links back to Ballistic Calculator theory and Physical Gun Controls so you know where each output lands on the machine.
How tools differ from guides
Guides explain why and how IRON NEST systems behave: map symbology on Maps, patch changes in Updates, moral weight and campaign structure in Review. Tools are narrow, task-focused pages with a component or table you can revisit quickly. Think of them as laminated cards taped inside the gun cab —helpful, but no substitute for pulling the levers yourself.
When a tool and a guide overlap, the guide wins for depth. Tools should stay short on prose and long on usable structure. If you only need narrative walkthroughs, browse the Guides hub and skip this section until you want a planning aid.
Using tools responsibly
All numbers on this wiki are approximate reference values derived from demo observations and Steam feature lists. Ballistics can change in balance patches before the August 2026 launch. After every major update, cross-check tool output against a live calculator run and note discrepancies in the relevant Updates entry.
Multiplayer is not part of IRON NEST —these tools assume a solo operator at one turret. They also do not track unlock progress for all 30 ammunition types or 15 campaign regions; use your in-game requisition bench and campaign map for that state.
What is coming next
As the wiki grows, this hub may add shell-selection matrices, range-estimation worksheets, and counter-battery timing checklists. Each new tool gets its own JSON under content/source/tools/ with featured: true when it addresses a high-traffic search intent. Suggest gaps via community discussion on the game’s Steam hub —we prioritize tools that reduce repeated calculator mistakes rather than cosmetic conveniences.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Do these tools connect to the IRON NEST game?
No. Wiki tools are browser-side reference helpers. They do not read save files, sync with Steam, or replace the in-game ballistic calculator.
Should beginners use tools before playing the demo?
Play at least one demo mission first so the stations make sense. Then use the Firing Solution Planner to rehearse the loop between runs.
Will tool numbers match every mission exactly?
Not guaranteed. Missions can restrict shells, weather affects feel, and patches rebalance charges. Treat output as a study aid and verify in-game.
Where do I learn the real calculator workflow?
Read the Ballistic Calculator guide and practice on the tactical map table in the demo. Tools only summarize that workflow.
Are more tools planned for launch?
Yes. This hub will expand with checklists and planners as players report common pain points. Featured tools surface on the home page.
